Performs nutrition assessment and develops appropriate patient nutrition support therapies.
Responds to written or verbal consults within 24 hours by a chart note of the initial nutrition evaluation.
Develops individualized nutrition regimen and care plans including type of support, administration route, specific formulation or solution, rate of administration and communicates this to the requesting MD via routine chart notes per standards of care.
Monitors metabolic status of each designated patient and charts nutrition evaluations, recommendations and updates as per standards of care.  This includes appropriateness of therapy as it relates to:
Infants, Toddlers, Preschool, School Age, Adolescents,Early Adults,Middle Adults and Late Adults
Checks nutrition support therapies currently provided against the most recent order for each designated patient as per standards of care. 
Monitors therapy for potential drug-nutrient or other related interactions, and communicates the suggestions via chart note or verbally to the physician.
Critical Element:
Participates in education to promote safe, appropriate and cost effective nutrition support techniques.

Job requirements: 
  Registered dietitian (RD) with BS or Master's degree in nutrition or dieteticsMaintains RD status through American Dietetic Association Board certificationMust pass  nutrition support certification within two years and maintain certificationOne year or more with a nutrition support team or as a therapeutic dietitian or clinical nutrition specialist preferred
