Job Description

Position Summary
 
Assists the Pharmacists in the following areas:
               1) Customer satisfaction
               2) Processing prescriptions
               3) Interacting with other members of the healthcare team to assist in filling prescriptions
               4) Completing inventory functions
               5) Assisting in maintaining the robot
               6) Additional assignments as given by the Pharmacists or Pharmacy Manager
 
 
 
 
Minimum Requirements
 
Education           HS Diploma (or GED) required; Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
 
Experience          Retail Pharmacy experience
 
Required Licenses/Registrations/Certifications
 
 
 

  • Must be registered as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern with the SC Board of Pharmacy


  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification and State Certification

 
              
Core Job Responsibilities
 
 

  • Follows attendance, dress, education (including continuing education) and safety policies.
  • Complies with appropriate regulatory agencies’ requirements, e.g. DHEC, DEA, SC BOP, etc
  • Enters prescriptions into the pharmacy processing software
  • Receiving verbal prescriptions over the telephone or voicemail (excluding controlled prescriptions),  and initiating and receiving transferred prescriptions
  • Processes insurance in pharmacy processing software
  • Processes coupons in pharmacy processing software
  • Retrieves medications, packages, and labels prescriptions accurately for final QA check by pharmacist.
  • Checks prescriptions out in Point of Sale system for final sale to patient
  • Able to retrieve controlled substances from Acudose cabinet
  • Checks in order from wholesaler and accurately places on shelves
  • Follows process for out of stocks and communicates to patients
  • Pulls return to stocks and process in  pharmacy software
  • Completes opening and closing procedures
  • Counts down registers and completes deposit paperwork
  • Checks assigned section for out of dates
  • Help maintains cleanliness of drug storage areas and workspaces
  • Teach IPPE and APPE Pharmacy students and Technicians
  • Participates in departmental and hospital activities such as, departmental in-services, participation in hospital and/or departmental committees.  Participates in departmental and hospital activities on performance improvement
  • Other duties as assigned
