POSITION SUMMARY

The Billing Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Manager/Director in the development, implementation and adherence to all processes, policies and procedures for the department.  This position is responsible for the effective relationship and performance accountability of the billing and edit management teams.  This position is responsible for the supervision of all billing and edits management activities to assure all claims are compliantly billed according to the payer guidelines and edits/errors are handled in an accurate and timely manner.  Duties to include:

* Must be able to accomplish billing and edit management objectives/goals through measuring and tracking billing results against plans and evaluating and improving quality.   

* Serve as a leader on the billing compliance team to assure that all governmental billing is meeting all federal/state regulations and requirements   

* Assure all payers are setup and requirements have been accurately completed and in place to establish the electronic remittance/fund transfer and claims transactions for all payers that will accept these electronic transactions.  

* Responsible to monitor/maintain a billing/edit management audit program to assure all necessary steps to bill clean claims in a timely manner are being handled accurately and in the most efficient manner.  

* Work with third party EDI vendor to assure user setup/workstations are utilizing the most up to date functionality for optimal results.

* Responsible to meet all billing and edit management goals/standards set forth by the department to assure timely and accurate claims filing. 

* Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to communicate well with multiple departments on billing and/or edit management processes 

* Serve as a billing resource for the organization

* Possess the ability to provide constructive criticism and feedback to staff for performance improvement

* Primarily responsible to ensure all managed care contracts are billed according to contracts.  

* Facilitate the analysis and preparation of various revenue cycle status reports for management.  

* Required to communicate with management on key issues and concerns involving the billing/edit management processes.     

* Assist manager with problem resolution for employees, clients and payer issues.  

* Supervise multiple tasks and teams to assure optimal outcomes.   

* Required to attend educational sessions, webinar or review publications to maintain the most up to date knowledge of billing and payer updates and changes required to maintain billing compliance.    

* Other duties as assigned.
 

 
Required: High school diploma or equivalency  
Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
 
  EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  
Required:
  • 5 years’ experience in medical billing payment posting lead, supervisory or management position. May consider prior experience/education in lieu of payment leadership experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/10 and billing/insurance guidelines.
  • Must have an in depth knowledge of governmental payer billing requirements.  
  • Must have direct experience in facility and/or professional billing
  • Good research and analytical skills
  • Well-developed inter-personal skills.
 
Preferred:
  • Prior lead or supervisor experience in a centralized hospital or physician billing office.
  • Hands-on experience with all forms of facility and professional billing.
